a bit about us.
Intrinsic Events founder Craig Murray has a long history in the events industry, his experience managing, developing, and hosting events runs back to 2004, whilst working within the surf industry delivering events for a number of surf brands and organisations including Surfing New Zealand, Vodafone Surf Sessions, Rip Curl Pro, Billabong Pro, Volcom Pro, Billabong Grom Series.
In 2007 slightly changing tac and moving into music, where he co-founded an event-based nightclub Flow in Hamilton. Over a 4-year period hosting and promoting over 200 ticketed music events ranging from national music icons Ladi6, Cornerstone Roots, Ddub, Salmonella Dub to international DJs ANTC1, Younsta, Lenzman and more. We really loved working with up-and-coming musicians and supporting them.
2011 selling venues to promoters and conference organisers in Wellington for the Economic Development Agency, known as WREDA was the next step. Worked with a great team at Positively Wellington Venues guided by Glenys Coughlan for four years, before moving back home to Rotorua as the Convention Bureau Manager for Destination Rotorua and Sales Manager of the Energy Events centres (one of NZs largest conference centres venues).
Until 2023 our team was managing the Giant 2W Gravity Enduro one of the world’s largest enduro mountain bike races. The team created a successful and very popular race series that now sells out within days. We have also managed Enduro World Series races, both Tier 3 and Tier 2 world events!
More recently we developed NZ SME&E Events, helping fill the market of tailor made events for our small & medium businesses and entrepreneurs in NZ. To date we’ve successfully held the NZ SME&E Festival (Auckland 2022) and SME&E Growth (Wellington 2023) with plans for a return to Auckland in 2024. Also in 2023 was our first ever Capital Enduro mountain bike race on the slopes of Karori (Wellington), we had an epic time and so we’re doing it all again in 2024 (but this time we’re going across the harbour to Wainuiomata)! Our most recent addition to our personal events portfolio is the NZ Fishing Hunting & 4x4 Expo - our inaugural event attracted over 6,000 attendees in just 3 days! As you can see, with over 18 years experience the Intrinsic Events team are plenty experienced at delivering music festivals, action sports events, exhibitions, conferences and managing large venues!
